Freshman Learners Acquiring Skills in Higher Education

Campus Rec’s FLASH program provides resources and experiential learning opportunities to support freshman students with their first paid position on campus. FLASH is a great opportunity for first-year students to become future leaders in the community. The program starts during fall term and provides on-campus employment and development opportunities to help first-year students to develop and strengthen their career readiness and occupational wellbeing.

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Current Portland State University degree seeking student with freshman class standing (defined as having fewer than 30 completed college credits)
  • Minimum enrollment of 6 undergraduate credits for three out of four terms in the year
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA and maintain good academic standing during employment
  • Positive attitude
  • Successfully complete a background check

After emailing the three documents above to CRECjobs@pdx.edu, click this link to complete a FLASH Intake Form to sign up for an interview time on October 18, 2024 between 9am-3pm.

FLASH Employee Training Schedule

Attendance and participation is mandatory

If you are hired through the FLASH program, you will be required to attend training and career development sessions on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. during fall, winter and spring terms approximately every other week beginning in late November. The exact schedule will be shared with the new FLASH employees.
