Welcome to Campus Rec, where the possibilities for good health, memorable experiences, and learning are at your fingertips. Here at Campus Rec, we focus on improving the wellbeing of our members by providing an inclusive and welcoming environment where recreation and wellness opportunities inspire, empower, and educate people to be positive contributors to the global community.

Membership Overview

  • All Portland State students enrolled in at least one credit and paying PSU tuition and fees are automatically Campus Rec members.
  • We also offer faculty, staff, alumni, and plus one memberships.
  • Prior to entering the Rec Center, you must sign a one-time waiver and member agreement online or on paper in order to use the facility and/or participate in Campus Rec programs.
  • Current PSU students, faculty and staff can use a valid PSU ID card to access the Rec Center. If you do not have a valid PSU ID card, contact ID Services in order to obtain one. If you forget your PSU ID, you may use a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport to access the facility.
  • If you are not a current PSU student, faculty, or staff member, complete the ASRC Building Access Request Form (opens in a new window) to request an access badge.
  • Campus Rec memberships cannot be prorated. We close the facility for approximately 12 days during the year for cleaning and staff training. The facility is also closed for all state-recognized and PSU-recognized holidays. Membership pricing and benefits take these closures into account. Review our Hours & Closures for more information.

Building Access

24/7 Card Access Required

To improve campus safety and bring the Academic and Student Recreation Center (ASRC) building into alignment with other buildings on the PSU campus, the exterior doors to the ASRC are locked at all times and require a valid PSU ID card or ASRC access badge for entry into the building.

If you already have a valid PSU ID card or ASRC access badge:

You are all set! No action is needed from you at this time, other than to bring your ID card or access badge with you each time you visit the Rec Center.

If you do not have a valid PSU ID card or ASRC access badge:

  • Current PSU students, faculty and staff can contact PSU's ID Services in order to obtain a valid PSU ID card.
  • All other Campus Rec members can use an ASRC access badge to access the ASRC building. If you do not have an ASRC access badge, please complete the ASRC Building Request Form.
    • You must have an active Campus Rec membership in order to request an access badge.
    • Access badges cost $21 to cover the cost of printing.
    • After submitting the form, you will be notified when your badge is ready for pickup at Member Services. Please bring a valid photo ID in order to obtain your access badge.

Access Issues

If your PSU student access to the Rec Center is denied, here are some potential reasons:

  • The Student Rec Fee has not been assessed to your account
  • There is a hold on your account
  • Your class registration has not been processed
  • Your special registration through signature has not been approved through your department
  • You have dropped a class and are no longer a student

If your PSU faculty/staff access to the Rec Center is denied, here are some potential reasons:

  • Your nine-month employment contract has expired and you are no longer receiving a paycheck
  • Your position at Portland State has changed
  • Your are receiving tuition-remission, which does not include the Student Rec Center fee
