Program Status: Implementation

The Incoming Student Questionnaire will help identify first-year students who may benefit from additional support and extended onboarding before the academic year begins.  The goal of the Questionnaire is to help students who may have barriers in their path to graduation and align a student's academic major with their professional aspirations. Additionally, the questionnaire helps to assess if a student has taken all the necessary steps and actions to enroll in classes.

Accomplished

  • Winter 2026 Survey email invitation survey was sent to 551 new Winter-enrolled students between January 5th and 11th.
  • 258 responses in total/ 28 were incomplete when the survey closed
    • 46.8% response rate with unfinished responses
    • 41.5% response rate without unfinished responses
  • All survey respondents who indicated needing additional support were connected with appropriate staff.
  • The committee reviewed and agreed to a Spring survey timeline.

In Progress

  • Working with admissions to coordinate pacing of the questionnaire to ensure alignment with admissions and orientation efforts and communication.
  • Considering utilizing Slate to send out survey in future iterations
  • Continuing to review workflow to understand who will contact students and when
  • Coordinating timing of outreach. Team will continue to review the escalation matrix and review/coordinate responses
  • Further discussion to track the effectiveness of outreach is ongoing.
  • Revisiting whether the UNST Prior Learning Survey questions can be integrated into the Questionnaire.

Project Health

  • The committee will assess the success of the response rate and outreach in comparison to the timeline and approach last fall
    • With the Sr Data and Research Analyst position vacant, term-to-term statistics are currently limited.
  • The committee will continue to monitor communication and outreach to ensure that efforts work in concert and in support of the outreach to students from admissions and orientation.
