Program Status: Implementation

In an effort to improve the advising structure and services at PSU, Advising and Career Services (ACS) is engaging in an external program review led by fellows from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) to ensure that ACS meets the needs of students and the institution.

Accomplished

  • Reviewed and synthesized feedback from PSU community on NACADA report recommendations into emergent themes (16 responses)
  • Interim Provost hosted a listening session with the advising community to hear impressions and responses to recommendations (April 2024)
  • New Associate Vice Provost of Academic Advising hired (April 2024)
  • Internal assessment workgroup consolidated input from Academic Advising Council, PSU Advising Community, NACADA Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) advising modules, to refine Advising definition and draft  Advising Mission, Values, and Position statements

In Progress

  • Associate Vice Provost is working on a strategic plan for implementation of assessment recommendation in collaboration with ACS, OSS, and other stakeholders. Plan to be communicated by Fall 2024.
  • Academic Advising Council to review and inform implementation of recommendations, discussing ways to engage the PSU community
  • Internal assessment workgroup, to share refined advising definition and draft mission, values, and position statements with the PSU advising community (June 2024)
