Welcome to Portland State Campus Rec! Use this page as a guide to understanding the ins and outs of the Rec Center. At Campus Rec, we strive to create an inclusive environment which lead us to create our U belong Campaign, that helps all members feel welcomed. 

Checking In

Sign the Electronic Waiver and Member Agreement - Prior to entering the Rec Center, you must sign a one-time waiver and member agreement online or on paper. Select your membership type below to access the Member Portal and sign the waiver and member agreement electronically. Building Access - The exterior doors to the Academic & Student Recreation Center (ASRC) are locked at all times and require a valid PSU ID card or ASRC access badge for entry into the building. Remember to bring your ID card or access badge with you to enter the building and swipe in at the Member Services desk! 

If you do not have a valid PSU ID card or ASRC access badge: 

  • Current PSU students, faculty and staff can contact PSU's ID Services in order to obtain a valid PSU ID card.
  • All other Campus Rec members can use an ASRC access badge to access the ASRC building. If you do not have an ASRC access badge, please complete the ASRC Building Request Form. You must have an active Campus Rec membership in order to request an access badge. After submitting the form, you will be notified when your badge is ready for pickup at Member Services. Please bring a valid photo ID in order to obtain your access badge.

  • Friday: 6 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Closures

 

  • May 30: Memorial Day
  • June 3: Closed at 3 p.m. for staff event
  • June 20: Juneteenth
  • July 4: Fourth of July

Lockers & Towels

Lockers

  • Long-term locker rentals are available for those with an active Campus Rec membership. 
  • Lockers are now available to rent on a term-by-term basis, rather than on a monthly basis.
  • The locker rental rate is now $25 per term, rather than $15 per month. In an effort to make lockers more accessible to PSU students, we have decreased the rental rate by 45%.
  • Each term, there will be a set locker rental expiration date. All lockers rented during a term will expire on the same date at the end of that term.
  • Members who would like to renew their lockers will have the opportunity to do so during a renewal period at the end of each term.
  • During the subsequent term, any unclaimed lockers will be available for rent.

Towels

  • Campus Rec members and guests can check out towels for $1 per towel or $5 per month.
  • You are encouraged to bring your own towel, but towels are available for check out at the Equipment Check-Out Desk next to Member Services.
  • Please return towels to one of our red bins located in locker rooms or by the second floor TV lounge.

Pool & Spa

Swim lanes are drop-in style, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Adaptive Swim Lane (Lane 1): Lane 1 in the Rec Center pool is an adaptive priority swim lane, with an ADA pool lift and stairs, that is available during all lap swim times for persons needing accommodations. If you would like to reserve the Adaptive Swim Lane for a specific date/time, please fill out the Adaptive Swim Lane Reservation form at least two business days in advance so that the Aquatics team has enough time to review your request.
  • General-Use Lanes (Lanes 2-6) 

Weight Room & Equipment

  • Weight Room Orientation - Email personal_training@pdx.edu to schedule a Weight Room Orientation, or check our event calendar for the next scheduled orientation.
  • Olympic Lifting - Prior to using the Olympic lifting platforms, you must watch the Olympic Lifting Video and pass the quiz at Member Services in order to obtain a lifting wristband.
  • Exercise Form & Technique - Visit our Exercise Form & Technique YouTube channel for videos put together by our trained staff to help you learn the proper form and technique for various movements and when working with exercise equipment.

Climbing Center

  • Climbing Center Orientation - Prior to using the Climbing Center, you must watch the Climbing Center orientation video and take the Climbing Center quiz at Member Services in order to obtain a climbing wristband. After completed the quiz, you are welcome to check out a climbing wristband and climbing shoes from the Equipment Check-Out Desk on the Second Floor, and then head up to the Third Floor to climb!

Personal Training

Campus Rec is currently offering in-person and virtual personal training offered based on client preferences. Clients must complete the New Client Checklist getting Personal Training. 

  • You must have an active Campus Rec membership in order to work with Campus Rec Personal Trainers.
  • Complete and submit a Personal Training Client Interest Form.
  • The Personal Training Student Coordinator responds to Interest Forms within two business days. You can choose your trainer or we can match you with a trainer based on your goals and availability.
  • Your assigned trainer will then schedule a free consultation which will include:
    • A 30-minute Zoom meeting to discuss your goals and new client paperwork.
    • A discussion of which package best meets your needs.
    • You may then choose to purchase sessions. 

Rec Center Tours

Campus Rec is currently offering in-person and virtual Rec Center tours based on preferences. Virtual tours can be taken on our faciltiies webpage.

In-Person Tours

  • Self-Guided Tours
    • Individuals can drop-in for a Rec Center tour during facility hours.
    • Obtain a visitor pass from our Member Services desk for a 15-minute self-guided tour. If a staff member is available when you stop by, they can show you around the facility.
    • A Portland State University or government issued photo ID is required before taking a self-guided tour.
    • Visitor passes must be returned to the Member Services desk after your 15-minute self-guided tour.
  • Guided Tours
    • ​​​​Campus Rec offers guided in-person tours for individuals and groups who request a tour at least 5 days in advance. To make a request for a scheduled group tour, please complete the Group Tour Form below.
    • Requests must be submitted at least 5 business days prior to the preferred visit dates. Tour requests less than 5 days in advance may or may not be accommodated depending on staff availability. 
    • Shorter tours can take 15-20 minutes and longer tours can take 30-60 minutes.
    • Tour participants must comply with the tour guidelines below.
