Karlyn Adams-Wiggins, Associate Professor in Psychology, focuses on student identity development and collaborative learning in science. Adams-Wiggins is a Co-Investigator on the BUILD EXITO project offering intensive research training for undergraduates historically underrepresented in biomedical careers. 

Robert Bass, Professor in Electrical & Computer Engineering, established and directs the Power Engineering Research Group at Portland State University. Bass has partnered with local industry partners to design and implement internship programs for ECE students at PSU.

Fletcher Beaudoin, Director of the PSU Institute for Sustainable Solutions, facilitates several collaborative university-community initiatives to develop the future workforce for a sustainable, climate-ready, and resilient region. Beaudoin is a Co-Investigator for the LSAMP Climate Internship program.

Hyuny Clark-Shim, Research Assistant Professor in Social Work, focuses on educational disparities and factors influencing student persistence. 

Shandee Dixon, CIMR Faculty Lead, is also an Associate Scientist with the Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute and Research Thread Director with the Northwest Native Center of Excellence at OHSU. Dixon is a Co-Investigator with the BUILD EXITO and U-RISE at PSU programs and provides support and programming for multiple CIMR programs. 

Suzanne Estes, Associate Dean for Student Engagement in College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Associate Professor in Biology. Estes, who is passionate about supporting Native and BIPOC students and promoting Indigenous traditional ecological and cultural knowledge (ITECK), is a former PI of the LSAMP program and currently works with the LSAMP Climate Internship and Ignite Mentoring programs.

Toeutu Faaleava, Director of the McNair Scholars Program, focuses on ethnic and cultural studies and supporting students on their pathway to success in graduate programs. 

Andrea Goforth, Professor in Chemistry and Director of PSU’s Center for Electron Microscopy & Nanofabrication, is addressing student training and workforce development needs in local technology companies. Goforth is Principal Investigator of the DISC internship program.

Alex Hunt, Associate Professor in Mechanical & Materials Engineering, makes robotics more adaptable by applying principles learned from biology. Hunt is Director of the Undergraduate Research & Mentoring Program (URMP) in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. 

Betty Izumi, Professor in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, focuses on nutrition, sustainability, and health equity. Izumi is Co-Principal Investigator of the Ignite Mentoring Program and Director of PSU’s AANAPISI project. 

Thomas Keller, Director of CIMR and Duncan & Campbell Professor in Social Work, focuses on growth and learning through mentoring relationships. Keller is Principal Investigator of BUILD EXITO, College Access Program, Bridges to Baccalaureate Metro PDX, PROA Pathways Project, and U-RISE at PSU. 

Jennifer Lindwall, Associate Director of CIMR and Director of the LSAMP Program, focuses on science identity development in undergraduate research experiences. Lindwall is Co-Investigator of BUILD EXITO, Bridges to Baccalaureate Metro PDX, and DISC.

Jason Podrabsky, Professor in Biology, studies functional genomics and the epigenetics of development. Podrabsky has been involved in multiple undergraduate research training initiatives. 

Andrew Rice, Associate Professor and Chair in Physics, was a founding member of PSU’s Center for Climate and Aerosol Research (CCAR). Rice is Principal Investigator of the CCAR Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) Program.

Dara Shifrer, Associate Professor in Sociology, focuses on reducing educational inequality and promoting math and science education.  

Lalaine Sevillano, Assistant Professor in Social Work, studies the educational and career trajectories of historically marginalized students. Sevillano is the faculty mentor/lead on the PROA Pathways Project. 

Erin Shortlidge, Associate Professor in Biology, leads the Biology Education Research Group, which investigates teaching and learning in STEM fields and promotes effective instructional practices and training programs. Shortlidge was the Principal Investigator of an S-STEM program for transfer students.

Ken Stedman, Professor in Biology, studies the structure, function, and evolution of viruses from extreme environments. Stedman has been involved in multiple research training initiatives.

Christof Teuscher, Professor in Engineering & Computer Science, incorporates paradigms from multiple disciplines to design novel computing models and architectures. Teuscher is Principal Investigator of the Computational Modeling Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

De’Sha Wolf, Research Assistant Professor in Social Work, investigates pain and chronic health conditions facing African American women. Wolf previously focused on interventions to improve access and retention of marginalized undergraduates and was Managing Director of BUILD EXITO. 

Mark Woods, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Associate Professor in Chemistry, focuses on enhancing contrast agents for biomedical applications such as MRI diagnostics. Woods is a co-founder and sponsor of the CIMR Mentor Academy.

Roberto Anitori, Professor in Biology at Clark College, studies microbes in extreme environments. Anitori is the Clark College Investigator for BUILD EXITO.

Ernest Blackwell, Instructor in Biology at Clackamas Community College, focuses on microbiology and its applications in neuroscience. Blackwell is the CCC Investigator for BUILD EXITO and Bridges to Baccalaureate Metro PDX.

Tracey Burke, Professor in Social Work at University of Alaska Anchorage, focuses on poverty, food security, and service provision in rural areas. Burke is the UAA Investigator for BUILD EXITO and Principal Investigator of U-RISE at UAA.

Alissa Leavitt, Instructor in Health Studies at Portland Community College, focuses on food systems, nutrition, and community health. Leavitt is the PCC Investigator for BUILD EXITO and Bridges to Baccalaureate Metro PDX.

Lisa Marriott, Associate Professor in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, focuses on strategies to promote science training and interprofessional development in biomedical fields from middle school through graduate education. Marriott is Principal Investigator of OHSU’s Science Education Partnership Award program and Co-Investigator on BUILD EXITO. 

Cindy Morris, Director of the Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute and Professor of Medical Informatics and Epidemiology at OHSU, oversees multiple research career and workforce development training programs at OHSU. Morris is Co-Principal Investigator for BUILD EXITO and U-RISE at PSU.

Beylul Solomon, Associate Professor of Education at Northern Marianas College, is a developmental psychologist interested in emotion-attention processes. Solomon is the NMC Investigator for BUILD EXITO and works with the PROA Pathways Project.
