BUILD EXITO Carlos Crespo, DrPh, Leaves for New Adventures

Faculty member Carlos Crespo stands in front of a colorful mural

As many of you know, Carlos Crespo, DrPH,  has started a new position as Dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Dr. Crespo’s impact on the EXITO & URISE community is unmeasurable. Since the start of BUILD EXITO in 2015, Crespo served as Principal Investigator of our program alongside Dr. Tom Keller, bridged new connections across departments and institutions, and mentored countless students, staff, and faculty. Through his leadership and support, the BUILD EXITO program expanded to include several programs (URISE & PLUS) that provide research training opportunities for students at various stages of their undergraduate pathways and beyond. Let’s also not forget Crespo’s fun sense of humor and love for elevator pitches! While his time at PSU has come to an end, the EXITO & URISE community are excited to see all the great things Dr. Crespo will do in his new position.

As we start the new academic year, we are excited to share that Dr. Tom Keller is now the Principal Investigator of the BUILD EXITO and URISE projects and will be working with our great staff and faculty to continue supporting the EXITO & URISE Community.
