Safer Together
A vibrant campus is a safe campus. Campus Public Safety is committed to creating a campus environment that supports students' success with fully trained campus police, safety officers, and security improvements.
Vehicle break-ins are the most common crime on the Portland State campus. In response, parking structures are being enhanced for safety:
- Parking Structure 1 has security cameras on the first four floors
- Parking Structure 3 is getting security gates for the vehicle and pedestrian entry points, completion is expected this fall
- University Center — gates secure the first floor and basement levels, access via SW Harrison St
The best way to prevent vehicle break-ins is to remove all of your personal belongings from your vehicle. Campus Public Safety’s webpage has more advice and resources for personal safety.
