Admissions | Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate

Students may enroll in the program as undergraduates or as postbaccalaureates.

Current Students

If you're already a PSU student, you do not need to apply or be accepted into the Certificate program. Simply:

  1. Log in to myPSU and select the certificate as your secondary major.
    1. Navigate to the "Academics" page
    2. In the Academic Planning section, select "Academic Program Change"
    3. Your current academic program will be displayed; to change it, select "Change" and select "Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate” as the second major/certificate.
    4. Select "Confirm program change.”
  2. Make an appointment with the Applied Linguistics faculty advisor by emailing ling.advising@pdx.edu

New PSU Students

  1. New students who have not yet applied to PSU must first apply to PSU as an undergraduate or as a post-baccalaureate.
  2. Log in to myPSU and select the certificate as your secondary major/certificate.
