Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Now Available

Portland State University students should use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for financial aid.

The 2025–26 FAFSA is now available. Complete your form annually to be eligible for all financial aid opportunities, including federal or state grants, loans, and Work Study. 

If you are not eligible to submit the FAFSA, you can submit the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA). The ORSAA is an alternative to the FAFSA for undocumented Oregon students, including students who have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status or Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

If you need help filing your FAFSA, review our FAFSA guide, contact the Financial Aid Office at (503) 725-3461, or stop by our counter in Fariborz Maseeh Hall (FMH) first floor (we also offer bilingual Spanish appointments with Financial Aid to help you through the process). Appointments are available in person or via Zoom.

Later Applicants, Postbaccalaureate, and Part-time Students

In general, students whose FAFSAs are received after February 1, part-time, and postbaccalaureate students are considered and offered aid based on availability. We recommend that you submit the FAFSA as early as possible before the beginning of the term in which you wish to receive aid. Less than full-time students and late applicants with exceptional circumstances can contact Financial Aid for further information.
