The Student Community Engagement Center offers a variety of ways for you to engage in service, ranging from one-day service projects to year-long service commitments. Read on for an overview of each of our six program areas and click through to learn more about each one.

Have a few hours and want to lend a hand? Sign up for a short Serve Your City or Serve Your Campus volunteer project that matches your interest & availability. Whether on or off campus, get involved in the community, one service project at a time!

Join the PSU community & make an impact on a single day! With multiple service projects to choose from and the opportunity to learn, connect, and reflect alongside fellow students, join us in our three big days of service each year: Portland State of Mind, MLK Day, and Earth Day!

SERVE YOUR CITY *SERIES*

Our Serve Your City *Series* opportunities are designed to engage students in multi-week service projects with a specific community partner, allowing you to dig in a bit deeper and return to the same organization multiple times in a term or year.

Get out and give back! Each spring break student teams travel to locations along the West Coast to learn from and work along side various communities during a week-long immersive service experience.

Student Leaders for Service

Student Leaders for ServiceMembers serve with a local nonprofit for 4-6 hours each week, digging into a role that speaks to their interest & experience. Deepening their skills through weekly leadership classes, SLS members step up as service ambassadors across campus, facilitating service projects...

MAPS MENTORING PROGRAM

Love working with kids? Become a MAPS Mentor!

Mentor: Alder and Portland State (MAPS) is a weekly mentoring program focused on creating strong connections between PSU mentors and Alder Elementary students at one of Oregon's most poverty-impacted schools.

Serve. Track. Be recognized for your community involvement! The Student Community Engagement Center recognizes individual students who are creating positive social change around the community as part of the year-end SALPies student leadership awards ceremony.
