Applying to the Graduate Program

The History Department admits students for Fall term entry only.

Prospective students are encouraged to consult the FAQ link below and the Graduate Admissions Website to learn about University policies and procedures, including application fees and waivers, minimum requirements, tuition and fee information, uploading and submitting transcripts and other special requirements (such as English-language proficiency).

Please note that the window to apply for Fall term entry to the MA Program in History runs from September 1 to February 1; after the deadline of February 1, no further applications are accepted. (As with several PSU departments, our deadline may be earlier than the one set by the University.) Additionally, admission for particular fields of study may be limited; applicants may contact the Department's Graduate Studies Coordinator for specifics. Decisions for applications will usually be available in mid-April by email via the application portal.

Please do not call the department with questions regarding the receipt of your application materials. Instead, please email us, as we may require some time to access and fully review your file. If we have questions regarding your application, we will contact you at the email address or phone number you specify on your application form.
