Campus Recreation Opportunities to get involved with leadership in Campus Recreation include employment, internships, outdoor program volunteers and leads, and Rec Club leaders. There are always opportunities to get involved. Cultural Resource Centers The Cultural Centers Leadership Team promotes professional development, leadership advancement, and cultural awareness. Opportunities to get involved include employment, event programming, and advisory council membership. International Student Services ISSS welcomes the world to PSU by providing advising, programming, and support to international students. Orientation Leaders Becoming an Orientation Leader allows you to hone and expand your leadership skills while connecting new students, their families, and community members to the Portland State community. Application and selection process begins in winter. Queer Resource Center The QRC strives to provide a welcoming space for queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and intersex students and their allies. Volunteers help plan events and programs. There are always opportunities to get involved. Residence Hall Student Association There are various leadership and job opportunities in the Residence Halls-- from Residence Assistance to being a leader in the Residence Hall Association. SHAC Health Promotion Students can be involved and lead health promotion initiatives on campus through the Illuminate Program Peer Recovery Support, Wellbeing Coaches, and the Wellness and Health Action Team (WHAT). Applications get posted in Spring Term for a Fall Term starting date. Student Ambassadors Student Ambassadors work to recruit new students to our wonderful Portland State community. Ambassadors also work at professional events and large visit programs. Ambassador recruitment starts in Winter term. Student Community Engagement Center SCEC connects students with volunteer opportunities that range from year-long service teams to one day events and everything in between. Student Government ASPSU, your student government, advocates for student interests, allocates the student fee dollars, and sits on important university committees. Elections are in Spring, but there are often opportunities offered year round. Student Media Student media includes a newspaper, magazine, literary journal, TV, and radio. Editors and Managers are hired in Spring. Contributor opportunities are available year round. Student Operated Services There are five programs including an art gallery, food pantry, cinema, graphic design center, and sound support services. All of these spaced are managed and run by student employees. Student Organizations There are over 150 student organizations on campus, there will likely be one just right for you. If not, it is easy to start one. Student Sustainability Center Get involved with sustainability initiatives on campus. University Studies Mentors Mentors are high-achieving juniors, seniors, or graduate students who work with faculty to lead class sessions in University Studies FRINQ and SINQ courses. Recruitment begins in Fall and applications are due in Winter for the following year. Veteran's Resource Center The Veteran's Resource Center provides a student lounge, computer space, leadership opportunities, student employment and programs. Opportunities are available year round. Women's Resource Center The WRC advocates for the best educational and campus experience for all members of our community through events, mentorship, and activism. There are always opportunities to get involved.
