Agreement Reached: SEIU Strike Averted

Dear Portland State Community,

 I am pleased to announce that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and Oregon’s seven public universities have come to an agreement on a statewide contract, averting the planned strike.

The tentative agreement will now move through the ratification process. I am grateful to everyone who worked through the bargaining process to reach this agreement, and am especially appreciative of our SEIU-represented employees and the essential work they do across Portland State.

I look forward to welcoming students and employees to campus today as we begin the fall term together.
