Supporting your Next Steps for Remote Learning this Spring

A Message to PSU Students

Kirk Kelly, Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Dear Students,

I’m Kirk Kelly, PSU’s Vice President for Information Technology, and I hope you have had a safe spring break. PSU has been working hard to prepare services and support for the spring term.

We know taking all of your courses remotely as a way to combat a global pandemic wasn’t part of your plan for this term. We’re all in this together, trying to figure out the best way forward to keep teaching, learning, and staying connected.

myPSU (my.pdx.edu) is your comprehensive hub for all information about remote learning. For example, you will find:

  • A Student Guide to Learning Remotely which includes information such as how to use Zoom or other technologies to stay connected.
  • Information on PSU’s new virtual computer lab (VLAB).
  • How to check out laptops and other equipment.
  • Strategies on how to manage your time with remote courses.
  • A wellness guide to managing our anxieties and how to access resources outside of PSU.
  • Information on how to access campus resources remotely.

If you have questions about anything about remote learning, please contact the OIT Helpdesk. If they can’t answer your question directly, they will put you in touch with people who can help.

You’ll receive future updates on resources and services in the Virtual Viking student newsletter that is sent each week of the term. If there are additional remote learning topics you would like us to address or other information that you would like to see please let us know at success@pdx.edu.
