Legitimate pdx.edu Mail Being Marked as Spam

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has uncovered an issue that started on May 10, 2023, which caused a large number of legitimate emails to be incorrectly marked as spam.

We have been tracking and mitigating the problem. As of May 25, spam classifications have returned to expected levels. We will continue to monitor the situation for the next few weeks, and will take action if it spikes again. Additionally, we’ve implemented a number of improvements to try to prevent this issue from recurring in the future.

To be sure that you didn’t miss any important emails during the month of May, check your spam folder looking for emails from a pdx.edu address by searching for “in:spam from:pdx.edu” using the search field in Gmail. Please mark as “not spam” any emails that may have been inappropriately diverted to your spam folder. This will help to retrain the spam filter.
