COE Technology Services provides tech support, project management, system administration, and tech procurement to the COE community. We are the primary point of contact for technology support in the COE and in the Vanport Building.

Technology Services oversees the shared Vanport Computer Lab and the technology in the Vernier STEM Classroom, COE conference rooms and COE workspaces. We purchase, install, and maintain technology for COE employees; act as COE’s Telecom Coordinator in Vanport; and manage and support special systems and technologies for the College such as Titanium Schedule. We also provide limited remote support for COE-affiliated units located across campus. Technology Services acts as the College’s liaison with PSU’s central Office of Information Technology and provides technology advice and consulting for faculty and researchers on a variety of projects when possible.

We are located in the Vanport Building suite 220, at the the corner of SW 5th Ave. and SW Montgomery.

Vanport Computer Lab VB260

The Vanport COE/SPH Computer Lab in room VB 260 is shared between the College of Education and the School of Public Health. The lab currently features 22 seats with Windows PC computers, one instructor PC with mobile lectern and overhead projector, and 10 additional seats for students to use with their laptops. The lab can be scheduled by COE and SPH departments for instructional use.

When not scheduled for instructional use, the lab is typically open on a self-service basis from 8am–6pm Monday-Friday. Entry to the lab requires card access arranged by your department. COE and SPH students, faculty, and staff with access can swipe their PSU ID card to enter during those hours.

When the lab is closed or a class is underway in the lab, students may visit OIT’s General Access Computer Labs, which includes the remote-access Virtual Computer Lab.

Technology Services staff are available for lab support questions via email and by appointment.

Technology Instruction and Project Support Lab

The Technology Instruction and Project Support (TIPS) Lab (formerly the Dr. Joyce Petrie Memorial Technology Center) is an 8-seat computer lab and academic technology workspace that is available for use by COE faculty and students by arrangement with the IT Coordinator. The TIPS Lab hosts technology or software for special projects; and provides a space for workshops, small classes, or breakout groups. Instructors may request TIPS Lab access via email to help-coe-tech@pdx.edu. Access must be confirmed by the IT Coordinator and may be subject to availability. As of Fall 2022, the lab is currently under development.

The TIPS Lab seats up to 8 people, and features a touchscreen conference display and webcam for presentations; a mix of Mac and Windows computers, and hosts special project technology such as 3D printers. Other technology may be available upon request.
