Last Wednesday, activist, poet, author, and artist Mic Crenshaw gave a passionate talk to a packed room in the Urban Center about his life experiences and his resulting book, It Did Happen Here: An Antifascist People’s History. Crenshaw spoke of himself and his chosen family fighting for survival and how that turned him into a lifelong activist. He advised the audience to “practice self-care” and “foster community,” especially when participating in activism. He earned a standing ovation from the crowd.
