Spring 2024—On Common Ground - Issue Library (oncommonground-digital.org)

Several PSU professors, including TSUSP professors Jennifer Dill and Marisa Zapata and TSUSP research associate Nathan McNeil, were quoted in the On Common Ground magazine. Dill was interviewed about transportation planners in “Community is Crucial in Transportation Planning.” Zapata discussed the importance and difficulty of community outreach for transportation planning in “Sensitivity Required.” McNeil also touches on this subject from an education perspective in “Engagement Before Action.”

MURP student Tyler Smith was interviewed about his MURP Planning Workshop project. Smith and his team are working with the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO) to develop a plan for a community garden that focuses on culturally specific food.

A MURP Planning Workshop projectconducted by students Afroza Hossain Misty, Anchal Cheruvari, Heather Rector, Holly Querin, Katelyn Dendas, and Symeon Walkerwas highlighted in BikePortland. The students are assisting BikeLoud PDX in the organization’s advocacy efforts toward a bikeway on Sandy Boulevard.

TSUSP professor Jenny Liu discussed local option levies for school districts with Oregon Public Broadcasting.
