Employee Viking Pass Program

The PSU Employee Viking Pass can be used on TriMet & C-TRAN systems throughout the region. 

  • The monthly paycheck deduction is $50/month, payroll deductions will continue until an employee opts out of the Employee Viking Pass program.

Employee C-TRAN Viking Pass

The Employee C-TRAN Viking Pass is valid on all C-TRAN buses, including Express buses and all buses and trains in the TriMet system. 

  • The monthly paycheck deduction is $63/month, payroll deductions will continue until an employee opts out of the C-TRAN Employee Viking Pass program.

Eligibility to Enroll:

  • The Viking Pass requires a PSU Employee Hop Card. Similar to the Trimet Hop Card, the Employee Hop Card will allow you to tap on Hop Card readers on buses and MAX stations. 

*We are no longer offering remote requests. All transit pass sales must be made in person at the transportation office.

TriMet Reduced Fare Program

Get access to 50% off TriMet single-use tickets and day passes and 72% off monthly passes by joining the TriMet Reduced Fare Program.

UPDATE: Federal Pell Grant recipients are now automatically eligible for the TriMet Reduced Fare Program. Individuals with an annual income at or below $29,160 can qualify. Similarly, a family of four with an income of less than $60,000 will also be eligible. Alternatively, you automatically qualify if you're eligible for Federal Pell Grants, or a member of Oregon Health Plan / Medicaid, SNAP program, TANF, HUD, WIC, LIHEAP, Free & Reduced Price Lunch, or Employment Related Daycare.

Return your Employee Viking Pass

We are no longer accepting online transit pass returns. To return your transit pass, you must visit our office in person. Please be sure to make your return by the last business day before the 10th of the month to allow for processing time and to avoid a payroll deduction.

*Separating employees with an Employee Viking Pass must notify Transportation & Parking Services of their separation date and when it will be deactivated. Failure to do so will result in the remaining value of the pass being billed to the employee’s university account and will be subject to fees and collection efforts

Portland Streetcar

All University Employees can ride the Portland Streetcar for free any time of day, any time of year. All you need is your PSU ID card! Visit the Portland Streetcar website for Maps and Schedules. 

Emergency Ride Home Program

Portland State University has partnered with Lyft to provide employees with a new reliable mobility resource: Ride Smart by Lyft offers employees two Emergency Lyft rides each academic year.

Program Details:

This program is designed for Full-Time Faculty and Staff members only. 

  • Two free emergency rides up to $40 each, valid until June 30
    • Customers are responsible for tipping their driver
  • Only available Monday-Friday
  • Available 8 am-5 pm
  • The ride pick-up location must be on the Portland State campus
  • Valid on Standard Lyft rides only

*This program is designed to assist faculty and staff members who are experiencing an emergency or are otherwise stranded on PSU campus and need a ride within the specified time restrictions.

Additional Program Details

  • If you request a ride that does not meet the criteria, you will not see the discount shown on your ride confirmation screen, and you will need to pay out of pocket.
  • This discount will not apply to trips that include mutliple stops.
  • Prices may be impacted by distance, traffic, time of day, special events, and prime-time surcharges. 

Tips for Riding Smart with Lyft

  • Verify your ride by making sure the license plate number, driver infromation, ad car make and model match what you see in the app.
  • Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real-time.
  • Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app. 
  • Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
