Hello creative collaborators! In this post, we bring you some important news regarding Google Jamboards, a tool many of you have grown to love for its interactive whiteboard functionality. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing you with the best possible tools for your collaborative needs, we regret to inform you that Google has decided to discontinue the Jamboard app.
Don't fret! We understand the value of your content and the need for a seamless transition. To ensure you maintain access to any content you want to keep that currently lives in Jamboards, we highly recommend migrating your Jamboards to Zoom Whiteboards. Zoom Whiteboards offer a robust alternative that not only preserves your content but also enhances your collaborative experience.
Migrating your content from Google Jamboard to Zoom Whiteboard involves exporting your Jamboard files and then importing them into Zoom Whiteboard. Here's a step-by-step guide to assist you:
Exporting Your Jamboard Files
Google Jamboard allows you to export your "jams" (whiteboard files) as PDFs or individual frames as images. Here's how:
From a Web Browser
- Navigate to jamboard.google.com.
- Locate the jam you wish to export.
- Choose the More (three dots) icon next to the jam's title.
- Select Download as PDF to export the entire jam.
- Alternatively, to export a single frame:
- Open the jam.
- Choose the More icon.
- Choose Save frame as image.
From the Mobile App
- Open the Jamboard app on your device.
- Open the jam you want to export.
- Select the More icon at the top.
- Select Share Jam as PDF to export the entire jam or Share this frame as an image for a single frame.
Note: Google has announced that the Jamboard app will be discontinued after December 31, 2024. Ensure you export any jams you wish to retain before this date, as all Jam data will be permanently deleted thereafter. Google Support
Importing Files into Zoom Whiteboard
Zoom Whiteboard allows users to upload PDFs and images, which can be useful for integrating content from other platforms. Here's how to import your exported Jamboard files:
- Sign in to your Zoom account and navigate to the Whiteboards section.
- Choose on New Whiteboard to create a new whiteboard or open an existing one.
- In the toolbar on the left side, Choose the Upload PDFs and Images icon.
- A file dialog will appear. Select the PDF or image file you exported from Jamboard.
- Choose Open. The file will appear on the canvas.
Once imported, you can use Zoom Whiteboard's tools to annotate, move, and resize the content as needed.
Additional Considerations
Editable Content
Currently, Zoom Whiteboard does not support importing files in a way that allows for direct editing of individual elements within the imported file. Imported PDFs or images will act as static content on which you can overlay annotations. This means that while you can add new elements or comments, you won't be able to modify the original content's components directly.
By following these steps, you can effectively migrate your content from Google Jamboard to Zoom Whiteboard, ensuring continuity in your collaborative projects.
