Awards of $6,600 Available Annually for Select First Year Students

Portland State University awards the PDX DREAMers Scholarship to incoming first year students who are eligible for Tuition Equity (TE) and the Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG). All applicants are automatically considered for the scholarship; no separate application is required. The PDX DREAMers Scholarship is available for up to four academic years.

Award Amount: $6,600 Annually


Eligibility

  • Participant in one of the following programs: Adelante Mujeres, College Possible, Latino Network, or Generation College. No study abroad or summer term eligibility and staff rates are not eligible. Partner Organization must submit names of students to Portland State admissions office by August 1st.
  • Oregon resident
  • Oregon high school Graduate
  • Admissible to PSU as a First Year student. Transfer students are not eligible.
  • First-time PSU Student
  • Enroll full-time (12 or more credits per term)
  • Receiving Tuition Equity (TE) and the Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG)

Applicants who initially applied to start in terms other than fall may change their start term to fall on or before the June 15 deadline to be considered for the Senior Inquiry Bookstore Scholarship

Applicants who are approved by PSU for a gap year will retain their eligibility so long as they continue to meet all criteria
 

Deadlines

To qualify for the PDX DREAMers Scholarship students must meet the deadlines below:

June 15

August 1

  • Submit final official transcripts and financial aid information
  • Accept all state grants. Students who cannot meet this deadline must notify the PSU admissions office by August 1.

Awarding Process

Eligible applicants are automatically considered for the PDX DREAMers Scholarship. Once admitted to the University and eligibility is verified, a student will be notified of their award by email and/or in their financial aid award. Initial awarding is based on information and documentation provided by the student in the admission process. Receipt of the award is based on submission of final financial aid and academic documents.

Maintaining the PDX DREAMers Scholarship

Students who receive this scholarship may continue receiving it throughout their undergraduate education (up to 4 years of full time enrollment) by:

  • Enrolling in at least 12 credits per term at PSU (Co-admission/co-enrollment does not apply).
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) which includes maintaining at least  a 2.0 GPA
  • File the ORSAA each year by February 1
  • Remain eligible for the Oregon Opportunity Grant
