25 PSU faculty members were ranked among the top 100,000 most-cited science researchers in the world in 2022, according to an update to a database released last month.
The Stanford-Elsevier rankings, produced by John P.A. Ioannidis of Stanford University, was compiled using Scopus data and published in the Elsevier Data Repository on October 4, 2023.
More than six million scientists who have each published at least five papers in scientific journals were evaluated for this data, hence the significance of being included within the top 100,000, or 2%, of this global community.
"The individuals included in this list embody PSU’s dedication to exceptional research and scholarship," said Rick Tankersley, Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies. “We are proud that their contributions are also recognized by their peers around the world.”
Here are the PSU faculty members ranked among the top 100,000 scientists throughout the world who were most-cited in their fields during 2022, along with the number of citations (within scientific journals only):
The dataset also compiles ‘career’ researchers who ranked among the top 100,000 most-cited science researchers in their fields from 1996-2022 (within scientific journals only). The following 16 PSU faculty members – including 11 from the 2022 list – earned this honor:
