We are happy to announce that Rebecca Davis has been hired as an Assistant Professor of Practice, Fixed Term in the MSW Program in the School of Social Work at Portland State University beginning September 16, 2022.

Rebecca Davis, LiCSWA, MSW, MA, SEP, social work licensure and RDT license (registered drama therapist) are pending. She identifies as Black, Indigenous, and queer. Rebecca engages in clinical social work practice through her private practice, Therapy, Altered, which focuses on utilizing creative arts and somatic interventions with individuals navigating extreme presentations/experiences of trauma (including dissociative disorders and DID), particularly those who are most marginalized. TA is focused on centering clinicians and clients of color in all things. She is an educator and facilitator through artic LLC, an education and consulting house with the goal of decentralizing whiteness as the focal point for healing. She is also the co-founder of DvT PDX, the Portland-based drama therapy training center for Developmental Transformations. Her academic areas of interest include trauma, DID & dissociative disorders, deconstructing the DSM, behaving activism rather than performing it, and centering marginalized voices.

Rebecca holds an MSW from the University of Southern California, an M.A. in Educational Theatre (certified Pre-K-12) from New York University, and a BM in Voice and Theatre Arts from Northwestern University.

Outside of work, she competes in the sport of Weightlifting at a national and international level. She enjoys shushing her bird Max during zoom calls, and action films.

Please join me in welcoming Rebecca Davis to her new role in the School of Social Work!
