School Based Mental Health Project Coordinator | RRI Regional Research Institute

The Coordinator will recruit and support MSW students for the school based mental health workforce development project, which aims to increase the number and diversity of mental health professionals working in high-need secondary schools. They will recruit Advanced MSW students for training as mental health professionals and practicum in a high school. They will recruit from the high-need communities included in the grant, and from the diverse student demographics that reflect the communities included in the project. They will participate in all aspects of the practicum placement process for students selected to participate in the project. The candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and dynamic interpersonal skills.

This position will work closely with the Reclaiming Futures team to facilitate the implementation of the school wide mental health screening, brief intervention and referral model in each of the high need schools included in the project. This will include supporting the training of interns prior to placement and establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with our cultural partners: La Clinica, Latino Network, and the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain healthy professional boundaries with clients and co-workers.
  • Ensure services are gender specific and culturally competent.
  • Environmental Conditions:  Work is performed in a residential treatment center. Must be prepared to handle client crises and/or emergencies.      

Schedule:  This is a full-time position; 40 hrs. per week.  Extended hours may be necessary as needed to cover staffing during center hours.

 Quantitative Analyst Graduate Intern| Oregon Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Needs 

•    Become acquainted with the NSCH, its data structure, and the Maternal Child Health Bureau’s (MCHB) Blueprint for Change for CYSHCN;

Family Reunification Program Volunteer | The Family Room 

The Family Room (https://familyroomoregon.org/) provides therapeutic visitation services to birth parents and their children who are in foster care.  Our program operates at 4 locations around the metro area - Hillsboro, Milwaukie, NE Portland and SE Portland. We are looking for volunteers to assist in facilitating family time. Volunteer shifts are 2 hours in length at a minimum of 2x per month and we ask for a 6 month commitment. The Linn County Alcohol & Drug Program provides prevention and treatment services to adults and youth. The Prevention Specialist position is a specific position within the Addiction Specialist classification.  The individual in this position will work closely with other prevention staff to provide youth substance use prevention, problem gambling prevention and mental health promotion and prevention services to youth, adults, schools, and local communities.

Job Summary
Professional-level knowledge and skills in behavioral health promotion and prevention for youth and adults. Skills in classroom instruction, community education, community organization and program development.  Ability to develop collaborative working relationships and to exercise sound judgment in providing consultation and leadership within the community.  Ability to give presentations, monitor program outcomes, and write reports. Must be able to pass a criminal history check and possess a valid Oregon drivers' license.  Bilingual Spanish skills a plus. Occasional evening or weekend work and travel to outlying areas in the county is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field is required. Three years professional or supervised practicum-level experience (pre- or post-Master’s degree) in providing addiction treatment services    (for clinical positions) or in providing prevention services (for prevention positions) is required. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described may be acceptable, including a bachelor’s degree with five years’ experience in addiction treatment (for clinical positions) or in prevention (for prevention positions). Classification as an Addictions Specialist 2, in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience, Education and Training Section above requires (for clinical positions) Oregon certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor - Level One for clinicians with a master’s degree or a Certified Prevention Specialist for clinicians with a Bachelor’s degree.
