IFlipd

iFlipd grew from an online textbook subscription service to a surprising new fintech authority on pay-as-you-go video game rentals.

Playing video games

For over five years Portland State Business Accelerator company-in-residence iFlipd has been on a mission to provide affordable textbooks for students by giving them the ability to pay for digital textbooks on a weekly basis at a reduced price.

The iFlipd platform is the only one that allows students to pay for digital textbooks as they need them, starting for as little as $2 a week. With the costs of physical textbooks at an all-time high, iFlipd hopes that by giving the students the option for affordable access they can help minimize student debt and maximize financial literacy.

This same flexible payment model is what iFlipd is applying to other high-interest products for students, namely video games. According to founder and CEO Kati Radziwon, about 65% of iFlipd customers now use their platform as a financing system to purchase video games.

“We really built the platform for anything,” says Radziwon, “Video games were a test, to see if there was interest in other products and, it turns out, there was.”
