Venus (she/they) is a dynamic force behind the scenes at the SALP Clubhouse, dedicated to streamlining operations and making essential resources more accessible to student leaders. A Portland native, Venus began her journey at Portland State in 2013, earning a B.A. in Psychology, Social Sciences, and Liberal Studies in 2017. Her college years were marked by a strong commitment to the campus community, including roles as a Teaching Assistant for Cognitive Neuroscience, a Peer Advisor for the Psychology Department, and Mentor for SALP’s Advanced Leadership Program. She also served as Treasurer for the Psychology Club and worked as a Preventionist for the Interpersonal Violence Program.
Venus’ career path includes a pivotal role as a Study Coordinator for OHSU’s longitudinal ADHD research study. Seeking new challenges, she moved to New York, where she began her career in higher education. During this time, she also played a key role in launching a second location for a successful vegan small business and earned her Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) certification. This certification has significantly shaped her approach to both life and work, seamlessly integrating mindfulness with her professional ethos.
Returning to PSU in July 2024, Venus is committed to enhancing resource accessibility for student leaders, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to thrive. Outside of work, she is an enthusiastic roller derby player and a passionate advocate for small businesses, sustainable fashion, cruelty-free beauty, public transportation, and lavender lattes. A committed vegan since 2017, Venus makes a conscious effort to live with intention in all aspects of her life.
As the Central Operations Coordinator, Venus is excited to continue fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, making a positive impact on the PSU community.
