PSU History
I was recruited to PSU as the Duncan & Cindy Campbell Professor in 2006. I started the Summer Institute on Youth Mentoring in 2007 and the Center for Interdisciplinary Mentoring Research in 2010. I serve as the Principal Investigator for several research training programs for undergraduates, including BUILD EXITO, URISE at PSU, PROA Pathways Partnership, and Bridges to Baccalaureate PDX Metro.
Experience
Before coming to PSU, I was on the faculty of the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago (now the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice). Prior to earning my Ph.D. at the University of Washington, I worked for several years with a Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in Seattle/King County as a caseworker, supervisor, and program director.
Academic/Research Interests
My research interests include the development and influence of youth mentoring relationships, social networks in mentoring interventions, evaluation of mentoring program innovations and enhancements, the professional development of program staff, and the mentoring of undergraduates in science, biomedical, and health fields.
Personal Interests
Hiking, biking, skiing, and reading.
