Student Health and Counseling - Student Affairs

Originally from the Seattle area of WA state - Pamela Vernon (she/her) has been with PSU since 2017, where she serves as a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Center for Student Health & Counseling (SHAC).

Pamela has a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in biology from Lewis & Clark College. She has a 2nd bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from Linfield College.

Prior to PSU, she worked as a wildlife biologist, predominantly in the study of birds. Following her stint in wildlife studies, Pamela moved back to Portland where she worked in Women’s Health Care for 17 years. She also worked in hospice, at a Pain Clinic, and at an Allergy Clinic before working at SHAC..

In her free time, you can find Pamela walking her dog, studying plants, designing her garden, and identifying birds and bird songs. After years of dancing tango, Pamela is also trying to learn tangoes on piano via Zoom with her teacher in Argentina. Turns out that playing tangoes is very different from her classical piano training.
