Madison Gregory

Therapist, Student Athlete Focus Specialist

Student Health and Counseling - Student Affairs

Maddie (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and holds a joint position within SHAC and PSU Athletics. She was hired in 2023 to serve as a part time therapist with a focus on supporting student athletes. She has a BA in psychology from Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ (Go Peacocks), and a MS in Community and Trauma Counseling from Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Identifying as a retired athlete herself, Maddie is passionate about mental health, and has been a fierce advocate for student athlete wellness. Before jumping into counseling, she spent one season playing professional soccer in Iceland, where she witnessed the challenges, tribulations, and pressure athletes face to hide their struggles with mental health. She is thrilled to bring her expertise and experience to SHAC to intentionally support the athlete community here at PSU.

Maddie enjoys working with athletes, trauma survivors, folks navigating major life transitions, relationship issues, challenges with decision making and motivation, and folks navigating their sense of identity, purpose, and passions. She has training in ambiguous grief and trauma, career counseling, narrative therapy, contemporary psychoanalysis, self and relational therapy, and the basic frameworks of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In her free time, Maddie enjoys walking her dog, a Basset Hound named Boris, playing pick up soccer, going for the occasional long run (when we are graced by the sun), trying to keep her plants alive, and traveling back to the east coast to see her friends and family.
