Rudy Barton has over 40 years of urban design experience in the academic, public and private sectors. He is presently Professor Emeritus of Architecture and a United Kingdom Fulbright Scholar at the Glasgow School of Art. His research focuses on urban design history/theory and the creative renaissance of public spaces for meaningful collective experiences; current research investigates the spatial and cultural relationships between cities and rivers. He has taught in Glasgow, London, Barcelona, and Siena. His publications include The Harvard Jerusalem Studio (ed. MIT Press), which he directed at Harvard and The Creative City: Connecting People, Place, and Identity in Glasgow and Portland, with Brian Evans while he was at the Mackintosh School of Architecture.
