Keiko Aoyagi


Keiko (she/her) is a psychologist resident at PSU SAHC for the academic year 2022-2023 who is originally from Japan. Prior to joining SHAC, she obtained her master’s degree in Counseling and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University and completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Arizona State University Counseling Services. Her graduate research focused on identity development, help seeking, and mental health among ethnically and racially diverse youth as well as psychotherapy process-outcome research.

As a clinician, Keiko is particularly interested in serving diverse college students, including international students and first-generation students. She has sought her clinical training primarily in university settings to address a wide range of clinical issues, including anxiety, social anxiety, depression/mood concerns, cultural adjustment, trauma, grief and loss, career-related concerns, and relationship concerns. She implements an integrative, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach to therapy, drawing on person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral approaches. 

Keiko’s personal interests include baking, listening to music, crocheting, hiking, and traveling.
