Associate Professor of Music Karen Strand has been a member of the PSU faculty since 1989. More than one generation of PSU oboists completed their degrees in Karen ‘s studio; those PSU alumni are now successful educators and performers in the metro area and througout Oregon. Currently Karen teaches online courses from her home in Washington while maintaining an extensive performance schedule across the Pacific Northwest. Her interest in online teaching began in 2002, when her music appreciation and beginning theory courses were among the first fully online offerings at PSU. The online courses have greatly expanded PSU School of Music’s course offerings to students not majoring in music.
