Originally from the Ozark mountains, Jesse Neel (he/him) has lived in Portland for over two decades. He earned a B.A.in English Literature from the University of Arkansas before obtaining an M.A. in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis and Clark College. He worked in community mental health for over three years before joining the SHAC team in 2022 as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with a focus on serving Queer and Trans students. He utilizes a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, and draws from Narrative Therapy to inform his practice.
When he is not at SHAC, he enjoys hiking, playing soccer, writing, and traveling.
