As an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University, Eric Einspruch teaches graduate, undergraduate, and certificate courses in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health and in the Department of Public Administration. He is also a Senior Fellow with PSU’s Center for Public Service, and Chair of the Board of Directors for the Confucius Institute at Portland State University. He has conducted research and program evaluation studies, primarily in the areas of education, social services, and emergency preparedness, for over 30 years. He has carried out small-scale local evaluations, large multi-site studies, large scale epidemiological surveys, and randomized controlled trials. He is the Principal and Founder of ELE Consulting, LLC.

Dr. Einspruch’s work has appeared in 19 peer-reviewed publications, including 15 journal articles, 2 books on SPSS, and 2 book chapters. He and his co-authors received the Helen Tobin Writers' Award (2012) for their article published in the Journal for Nurses in Staff Development. This award is given annually by the Journal to the authors of the article that is selected from those published in a volume year based on criteria regarding contribution to the specialty, quality of the writing, and relevance of the topic. He has also received the Confucius Institute U.S. Center’s People to People National Honors Award (2017). This award is given to ten winners of the Confucius Institute Story Telling essay writing contest, for an essay relating their personal story of learning Chinese, cross-cultural experience and insights gained from that experience, and why it matters to their personal development.

Dr. Einspruch was one of the organizers of the Oregon Program Evaluators Network (OPEN), a local affiliate of the American Evaluation Association. He then served as OPEN's charter Secretary during its first two years, as the association's fifth President, as the Local Affiliate Liaison to American Evaluation Association, and as a Member-At-Large.

Dr. Einspruch received Portland State University's Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award for Research, which recognizes and honors the outstanding contributions of adjunct faculty, during its inaugural year (2017).
