Chelsea Tobias

Chelsea (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) serving as the Initial Access and Crisis Care Therapist at SHAC. Chelsea received both her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Counselor Education, with a focus on School Counseling and Guidance, from the University of Florida (UF). Prior to joining SHAC in early 2023, Chelsea worked as a Consultation and Referral Team specialist, doing triage and crisis work at the UF Counseling and Wellness Center. She also spent time doing career counseling at UF, counseling children and adolescents in community mental health, and teaching English to elementary and junior high students in Japan.

Chelsea is particularly interested in working with students in crisis or at times of transition, international students, and folks from LGBTQ+/Queer communities. Chelsea’s approach to therapy is person-centered and strengths-based, also drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She aims to create a space where clients can feel safe and understood and believes deeply in the healing power of connection.

Outside of work, you can catch Chelsea playing roller derby with the Rose City Rollers, relaxing with her cats and Chihuahua puppy, or exploring all the food and nature that Portland has to offer.
