John Donovan joined NPCC as Oregon Solutions director in September 2023. Before joining the center, John served in other capacities on several Oregon Solutions projects in both urban and rural Oregon. Those first-hand experiences, along with a seasoned career in community engagement and facilitation, have fostered in John a strong commitment to harnessing the power of collective action to transform community ideas into sustainable solutions in every region of the state.

John brings more than thirty years of experience in collaboration, communication, and resource development. He has served in numerous roles where he brought individual voices together to achieve a collective goal. John was one of the founders of Metropolitan Group, a social impact agency based in Portland, and he served as a senior executive there for more than eighteen years. His work has focused on environmental education, heritage, arts, culture, children's mental health, public health, and community development. As Oregon Solutions director, John supports the work of the Oregon Solutions team in facilitating alignment and deployment of public, private, and nonprofit resources to strengthen Oregon communities.

John has a BA in political science from Willamette University. He is a dedicated runner and walker who is committed to getting his family and friends to join him whenever possible. He is also a parent volunteer at Cleveland High School in Southeast Portland.
