Computerworld Names Portland State University to 2018 List of 100 Best Places to Work in IT for second year running

IDG’s Computerworld announces Portland State University as a 2018 Best Places to Work in IT, one of 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staff while providing great benefits and compensation. Organizations will be included in coverage on Computerworld.com along with results from the 2018 Best Places to Work in IT survey.

“Portland State University (PSU) is excited to be recognized by Computerworld for this distinguished award for a second year running,” said Kirk Kelly, Chief Information Officer. “Employees are our number one value, and I am proud to work with our outstanding staff; this award is a reflection of the great work environment that PSU and OIT have created for our employees.”

PSU’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) prides itself on its engaged, happy, and effective employees, and the quality work and customer service that follows. Embracing a culture of caring, OIT is employee-focused; successful examples include a welcoming onboarding experience, flexibility in work hours and locations, an investment in professional development, and a commitment to health and wellness. Mixed with the university's passion for inclusion and diversity, community engagement, and sustainability, IT employees have found a recipe for success at PSU. The result of these efforts is a low turnover rate and high employee engagement, which act as a testament to employees’ commitment to OIT and the mission of PSU, whose motto is “Let Knowledge Serve the City.”

“Over the past couple of years, we've seen an already tight market for tech talent get even tighter,” said Computerworld executive editor Ken Mingis. “Computerworld's 2018 Best Places to Work in IT list illustrates that the companies that offer the best working environments aren't satisfied with rolling out one or two initiatives. They seek an edge in the talent marketplace through a combination of good salaries, great benefits, ready access to training, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies. They recognize that the top tech talent can easily move to the organization that respects them best, and they are determined to be that organization.”
