Chuck Knepfle to become VP of Enrollment Management

Chuck Knepfle

Portland State University is pleased to welcome Chuck Knepfle to the role of Vice President for Enrollment Management. Knepfle will begin in September.

Knepfle joins PSU from Clemson University, where he serves as the university’s associate vice president for enrollment management.

A graduate of Miami University as well as Clemson University where he earned his doctorate, Knepfle has also served as a financial aid director. But he was drawn to enrollment management — and PSU — because he’s passionate about helping students attend college.

"Chuck brings high-level experience and expertise to Portland State, particularly in reaching underrepresented students," said Acting PSU President Stephen Percy. "I want to thank Assistant Vice President Yohlunda Mosley, who heads PSU Admissions and New Student Programs, for her excellent work these past months as interim vice president of Enrollment Management. We will have a team in place that can build on our success in an increasingly competitive recruitment environment."

Knepfle is the incoming chair of the Higher Education Loan Coalition, serves on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is a co-chair for the Clemson’s Men of Color Summit, a national conference focused on emphasizing the importance of education and increasing graduation rates for men from underrepresented backgrounds.

He and his wife, Cari Brooks, who serves as director of undergraduate student services for Clemson’s College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, have three children.

“I am incredibly excited about joining the team at Portland State. What drew me here is the opportunity to work at a world-class university that has as its primary mission access, inclusion, and equity,” Knepfle said. “I have already experienced a warm welcome and am looking forward to being on campus. Portland State is in a position of strength from an enrollment perspective; the city of Portland is one of the few metropolitan areas in the country that is projected to grow in the number of its college-going students, and there are numerous excellent majors at PSU from which students can choose.”
