Cobblestones with streetcar rails and sandblasted text
Located outside the northeast entrance of  Blumel Residence Hall

This "interactive sculpture" was created using historic Portland cobblestones and streetcar rail fragments excavated during the construction of Blumel Residence Hall (formerly West Hall). Sandblasted onto many of the stones is text relating to the history of the region and its geology.

About the artist

Portland-based artist Jerry Mayer creates sculptures in a variety of mediums. Jerry is a founding member of Nine Gallery in Portland, Oregon.


This work was acquired through Oregon's Percent for Art in Public Places Program, managed by the Oregon Arts Commission.
