DR DI DENG

Dr. Di Deng is a family medicine physician practicing in Portland, Oregon, where she serves one of the metro area's most diverse populations. Her clinical interests include preventative medicine, women's health, and maternity care. Born and raised in Changsha, China, Dr. Deng moved to the United States at age 18 to pursue undergraduate studies in biochemistry and molecular biology. Her academic journey included research on glucose transporters, which became the focus of her master's thesis. As a research technician at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, she studied the mechanisms behind neuroblastoma, a childhood malignancy. Dr. Deng completed her medical education at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Her passion for family medicine was ignited during a rotation in Valdez, Alaska, where she witnessed four family medicine physicians caring for a town of four thousand people. Impressed by their comprehensive medical knowledge and community relationships, she chose to specialize in family medicine. She completed her residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), learning from pioneers in the field. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Deng is an enthusiastic foodie who enjoys traveling. She is particularly fascinated by the interplay between culture and food, and how these relationships influence approaches to health.
