Program Details | Mathematics for Middle School Teachers Minor

This mathematics minor is intended for those who plan to enter a Graduate Teacher Education Program and be licensed in middle school mathematics (grades 5-9).

Requirements

A student must complete the following program (12 credits must be upper-division; 9 of these 12 upper-division credits must be taken in residence at PSU):

Only grades of C-, P, or above count toward satisfying the department minor requirements. No more than three courses with a grade of P may be counted toward these requirements. The prerequisites for the Mth 490's courses are Mth 111Z-Mth 112Z and Mth 211-Mth 212-Mth 213.

Postbaccs

Students who are interested in this program and who already have a Bachelors degree should look at the companion program for graduate students, the Graduate Certificate in Mathematics for Middle School Teachers. PSU does not allow adding a minor after the Bachelor's degree has been conferred.

Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP)

The Minor in Mathematics for Middle School Teachers fulfills the requirements for a Departmental Recommendation for Foundational Mathematics
