  1. Cassio de Oliveira, world languages and literatures faculty, was awarded a Quarry Farm Fellowship by the Center for Mark Twain Studies for a two-week residency at Mark Twain’s historical home in Elmira, New York.
  2. Grace Dillon, Native American studies and university studies faculty, served as a consultant for the film “Antlers,” directed by Scott Cooper and produced by Guillermo de Toro. Read more.
  3. Berrin Erdogan, business faculty, was a panelist on the session “Allyship in Science: Reflections from the Editors on Pathways to Inclusion” at the annual meeting of Southern Management Association in New Orleans from Nov 2-6.
  4. Berrin Erdogan, business faculty, was interviewed for the article, “How Oregon Works: Hiring Challenges Hit Higher Ed” by the Portland Business Journal on Nov. 19.
  5. Jacen Greene moderated the talk “Changing the Narrative of Homelessness” — which also included Maude Hines, English faculty — on Nov. 14 for the Coalition of Urban and Public Universities.
  6. Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, participated in a panel discussion consisting of former Ethnic Studies faculty members from Bowling Green State University in celebration of the department’s 50th anniversary at the Association for Ethnic Studies Annual Conference on Nov. 6. 
  7. Michael N. McGregor, English faculty emeritus, launched a new website called WritingtheNorthwest.com, featuring news and commentary on writing about the Pacific Northwest, both historical and contemporary.
  8. Mau Nam Nguyen, mathematics faculty, received a 2021 Best Paper Award from Journal of Global Optimization for the paper, “Solving K-Center Problems Involving Sets Based on Optimization Techniques.”
  9. John Nimmo, curriculum and instruction faculty, has been awarded the 2021 Silver Prize for Documentary Feature at the Social Justice Film Festival for his co-produced film “Reflecting on Anti-Bias Education in Action.”
  10. Marta Stelmaszak Rosa, business faculty, was a panelist in “How Can A.I. Interact with Humans During Decision-making in Organizations?” organized by Copenhagen Business School on Dec. 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  11. Marta Stelmaszak Rosa, business faculty, participated in the debate “How Can We Push Danish Industries Further on the Way to Industry 5.0” at the Digital Tech Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, from Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
  12. Emily Shafer, sociology faculty, was quoted in a KPTV article on Sept. 30 about the nationwide labor shortage.
  13. Liu-Qin Yang, psychology faculty, was elected president-elect of the Society for Occupational Health Psychology.
