General Human Resources

Our front desk team assists employees and community members with general inquiries, new hire & rehire forms, employment verification, address & name changes, background checks, staff fee privilege forms. HR Front Desk hours are M-F 8-5.

Benefits

Investing in our employees' overall health and wellness is important. The HR Benefits team at PSU provides education and support to employees as they move throughout the employment lifecycle from selection of benefits, enrolling and modifying retirement plans, facilitating benefits fairs and flu shot clinics, and supporting employees as they ready for retirement. This team can assist employees with questions regarding PERS-EDX reconciliations, retirement plan enrollment/changes, pension 401a, 403b, 457, health care benefits enrollment/changes, and healthcare benefits deductions.

Compensation & Classification

The Compensation and Classification team manages position titles and descriptions for PSU. They collaborate with university departments and units to ensure equitable pay practices, accurate, and efficient compensation strategies. This is accomplished in part by development of compensation and classification systems based on best practices and policies, utilization of wage and salary surveys, market analysis, and position description expertise. The team consults on the multiple classification systems in place through the collective bargaining process and administers systems of compensation including stipends, overloads, special salary increases, and negotiated increases.

Employee Growth

Employee Growth encompasses training and performance management aspects of the employee lifecycle. PSU supports professional growth for all employees by providing training and information as well as annual review processes allowing employees and supervisors to identify an employee's opportunities and collaborate on strategies for career movement.

Employee Rights

Employee Rights include protected leaves, ADA accommodations, union contracted rights and privileges, and wage and hour laws. Our team of skilled professionals support employees through these interactive processes and support with navigating the many options available.

Payroll Operations

PSU's Payroll Operations teams administer and process payroll and payroll tax actions for all employees at the university.  The Payroll teams can assist employees and staff with wage and hour law, garnishments, pay check questions,, leaves, web time entry, labor redistributions, payroll withholding account reconciliations, staff fee privilege, mandatory & optional withholding, international employee withholding, direct deposit, and employment tax reconciliation.

Recruiting & Hiring

The HR Employment team serves as a strategic partner for university recruiting and hiring. Central HR Partners provide consultation and support to leaders in developing strategies to attract qualified and service-focused candidates, ensuring an equitable and efficient recruitment and hiring experience, and managing timely and accurate processing of records associated with each employee's employment status. Letters of offer, recruitment & selection processes, position entry into Banner, EPAFs, background checks, and position entry into Banner are performed by this team.

HR Reporting & Analytics

The HRIS team supports the University by managing most federal and state regulatory reporting involving employees, such as IPEDS-HR, Affirmative Action data, HB2016 (New Hire) reports, and so forth.  The team develops ad hoc reports and metrics, and consults with OIT for most HR reports. We also develop HR Dashboards for the public as well as those for PSU internal use only.
