Urban Education

The University Honors Program centers on Portland State's motto, Let Knowledge Serve the City. Honors builds upon Portland State's reputation as a leader in urban research, and its institutional commitment to collaboration and stewardship.

The Honors college attracts students from Oregon and beyond who are eager to be a part of a small liberal arts college experience while engaging with the city experience. Students will work individually with faculty on research projects, build a professional network, and interface with a challenging yet rewarding curricular experience.

Curriculum

Honors' core curriculum is an alternative to the general education University Studies requirements. Students must still fulfil the requirements of their major, meet degree requirements, and maintain institutional students standards. All Honors courses are reading, writing, and research intensive.
