Scientific papers in the social sciences authored by Portland State faculty and students received high scores from the National Taiwan University's (NTU) 2021 "Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities" report. The NTU ranks PSU 293 out of the top 500 universities worldwide for the impact of social science publications.

Since 2007, the annual NTU Rankings have evaluated the impact of scientific publications by field (e.g., engineering, natural sciences, social sciences) and subject (e.g., environmental science, civil engineering, microbiology). NTU determines rankings by evaluating research productivity (number of articles published), research impact (citations), and research excellence (h-index, highly cited papers, and publications in high-impact journals). PSU social science publications received high marks in the H-Index and Average Citations evaluation categories.

"The NTU ranking is a reflection of the high-quality research produced by PSU's faculty and students in the social sciences," said Jason Podrabsky, Interim Vice President for Research & Graduate Studies. "It confirms that PSU's social science research and scholarship and the people behind it are among the best in the world."
