Linda Williams named Interim Director of Athletics at Portland State

Portland State University President Stephen Percy has named Linda Williams as the Interim Director of Athletics for the Vikings Athletics Program.
 
Percy has selected Williams to replace former AD Valerie Cleary, who moved on to a new role with the Multnomah Athletic Club after five years with the PSU program. Williams took over in an interim role with PSU on Aug. 2.
 
Percy selected Williams, who has served as the Chair of the Athletics Futures Committee at Portland State over the past year. Williams has worked in the banking industry for more than four decades. She most recently has served as the Oregon Region President of Washington Trust Bank for the last 15 years.
 
"Linda brings to Portland State decades of community leadership including strong support for our Viking student athletes," said PSU President Stephen Percy. "I am grateful for her willingness to step into this important role and am confident she will work collaboratively with our great athletics staff and coaches to build on our history of athletic and academic success."
 
Williams will hold the Interim Athletics Director role while the university undertakes a nationwide search over the next few months. Williams will not seek the permanent position.
