Joleen Kremin's research examines how human capital, interpersonal dynamics, and educational systems influence the pipeline, performance, and persistence of accounting professionals. Her work spans topics such as organizational commitment and turnover in public accounting, the role and perception of internal auditors in governance, and the impact of mental health on accounting professionals. More recently, she has focused on equity and belonging in accounting education, peer mentoring, and inclusive pathways into the profession.

Kremin also served as chair of the AI integration task force for Portland State's School of Business, so she is able to speak on AI in business education.
