Visiting Scholar

Daniel Van Lehman's work in East Africa includes positions with the U.N. High Commissioner for refugees in the Dadaab, Kenya refugee camps and collaboration on human rights research with the the U.N. Security Council's Monitoring Group on Somalia and Eritrea and the U.N. Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

At PSU, he was co-director of the federally-funded National Somali Bantu Project which assisted resettlement service providers and recently-arrived Somali Bantu refugees. He testifies as an expert witness in immigration court on the human rights in southern Somalia and the deportation experience of Somali Bantu and other Somali minorities.
