Do you want your voice to be heard as a Veteran or military-connected student at PSU? Or do you want to assist Veterans and military-affiliated students as a student, staff, faculty, alumni, or community member? The Veterans Resource Center Advisory Board is a great place to get involved in support of the Veteran and Military-affiliated community.
The mission of the Veterans Resource Center Advisory Board (VRCAB) is to support the vision of the VRC and to help accomplish the VRC's long-term goals. The VRCAB acts as a resource to advise the VRC on how to connect to the students that they serve. They would also assist in the development of handy programs that help facilitate Veteran transitions from the military into higher education. Another duty of the VRCAB is to act as a bridge between the VRC and the general PSU community, making sure both sides are heard and respected. Lastly, the VRCAB advises on, plans, and reviews the VRC annual budget for transparency and accuracy and ensures consistency with university guidelines.
The VRCAB usually holds a meeting the last Friday of every month of the school year from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. During a meeting, the board will most likely discuss the current agenda, listen to existing board concerns, and vote on motions, if needed.
All students at PSU are free to attend at any time, but if you would like to be more involved as a voting member, you can apply to be a board member. We suggest any students interested in being on the VRCAB attend a few sessions to see what the board process is like before applying. Any students or members wanting to be on the board must be nominated and voted into their position.
